Angela as SASHA in 'Orlando' at Villanova Theatre Directed by James Ijames

Acting Statement

I enjoy performing in projects that ask challenging questions of me and the audience. I am a trained vocalist and actor- specifially focused in Stanislavski, clown, mask work, devising, and viewpoints. My experience as a director, producer, etc. allow me to collaborate effectively and look at my role as an actor through a deeper lens. I love performing (and have experience) in a wide range of genres and contexts- from new works to large scale musicals, solo performance to intimate dramas, singing telegrams to outdoor immersive childrenā€™s theatre!

My MA thesis was a solo performance titled Iā€™m an Actress! where I wrote, produced and performed a one act as Nina from Chekhovā€™s The Seagull exploring the events that would have taken place between Act III and IV of the play, to try and fully understand her fraught state of mind by the playā€™s end. I offered personal parallels and a contemporary, feminist take as a young woman navigating heart break, loss, and dreaming of success in an industry who looks at actors as disposable. Being an ā€œactressā€ is more than a rare job that only some may obtain, it is an identity, and one that I hold dear to me.
